Date Difference Calculator
Find the time between two dates — days, weeks, months & years
How to find the time between two dates
Pick a start date and an end date, and the calculator shows the time between the two dates in a few ways at once: broken down into years, months and days, and as a running total of days, weeks and months. It also counts the working days in the gap and tells you which weekday each date falls on. The order doesn't matter — if you put the later date first, it still returns the correct positive difference.
How do I calculate the time between two dates?
Enter both dates above and press Calculate. The tool subtracts the start date from the end date and expresses the gap as years, months and days, plus the total number of days, weeks and months between the two dates.
How many days are there between two dates?
The "Total days" figure is the exact count of calendar days from the start date to the end date. For example, the number of days between two dates one week apart is 7.
Does it count both the start and end date?
The difference is measured from the start date to the end date, so a single day (same start and end) shows as 0 days apart. If you need to include both endpoints — for example when counting billed days — add one to the total.
How do I get the difference in months or years?
The main result already breaks the gap into years, months and days. The "Total months" figure gives the difference as a single decimal number of months, which is handy for notice periods, leases and loan durations.
When is a date difference calculator useful?
Counting days to an event such as a wedding, exam or deadline; working out project durations and notice periods; checking lease or loan lengths; or confirming whether a warranty has expired.
What counts as a working day?
Working days exclude Saturdays and Sundays. This gives an estimate — public holidays aren't deducted because they vary by state and organisation in India. For a fuller count, use the dedicated Working Days calculator.
