How to calculate the time between two times
Enter a start time and an end time, and the duration calculator shows how much time is between the two — in hours and minutes, and as a total in minutes and seconds. If your times run past midnight, such as a night shift from 22:00 to 06:00, switch on the overnight option so the gap is counted correctly. You can also switch tabs to add or subtract a number of hours and minutes from a starting time.
How do I calculate the duration between two times?
Enter the start time and end time and press Calculate. The tool converts both to minutes, subtracts them, and shows the duration in hours and minutes along with the total minutes and seconds.
How many hours are between two times?
The result gives the exact hours and minutes between the two times. For example, the time between 9:00 and 17:30 is 8 hours 30 minutes.
How do I work out a duration that crosses midnight?
Set "Spans overnight?" to Yes. A shift from 22:00 to 06:00 is then counted as 8 hours instead of a negative value.
Can I add or subtract time from a time?
Yes. Use the Add time or Subtract time tabs to add or take away hours and minutes from a starting time — useful for finish times, cooking timers or appointment planning.
What is a time duration calculator?
