Converting between hourly and salary

To turn an hourly rate into an annual salary, multiply it by the hours you work each week and the number of weeks you work per year. To go the other way, divide the annual salary by those same total hours. The two assumptions that matter most are your weekly hours and how many weeks you count — using 52 weeks ignores unpaid time off, so some people use 48 or 50 instead.

Frequently asked questions

How many weeks should I use?

52 covers the whole year. If you want to exclude unpaid holidays, use the number of weeks you're actually paid for, such as 48 or 50.

Is this gross or take-home pay?

This shows gross pay, before tax and deductions. For India take-home, see the linked salary calculator.

Does it handle part-time hours?

Yes — just enter your actual hours per week, whether that's 20, 30 or anything else.
